The apprenticeship program includes training and on-the-job experience in the following areas:

• Job planning
• Set-up
• Drill press (taping, reaming etc…)
• Lathe (all turning)
• Mill (all milling)
• Advanced machining
• Inspection
• Grinding (all abrasive machining)
• Bench work (deburring, clean-up etc…)

In addition to the classroom hours, D&H works in concert with the training to provide on the job experience in all areas using state of the art technology and equipment. The program is 144 hours per year (4 hours/week during September through June) of related instruction classes. To complete the program individuals must attend a minimum of 544 hours of instruction over a period of 4 years. A certificate of completion is issued by the Department of Apprenticeship Standards for the state of California as authorized by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Tooling & Machining Association Unilateral Apprenticeship Committee.
